Back To The Future With Area Rugs

Sometimes I feel maybe we are destined to be here at this point in time. We re in a room surrounded by rugs, like most rugs they are made by two methods hand -knotted and hand-tufted and there are some made from a less used technique known as flat-weaving (used in Dhurries and Kilims).

The future conspires with the past and bring us into the present with hand woven area rugs. As the illusion of time is felt thru these beautiful rugs

I’ll outline here some types of area rugs, to give you an idea of the wide array to choose from: contemporary area rugs, kids area rugs, modern area rugs, wool area rugs, square area rugs, southwest area rugs, shag area rugs, round area rugs, outdoor area rugs, round area rug, discount area rugs, and large area rugs to name a few. I think you get the gist; no matter what your decorating theme requires you’ll likely find the area rugs to suit your need.

Back to time with area rugs, another odd principle has to do with uncertainty, for instance it is impossible to measure the size of the rug while taking in the beauty. The more accurately you describe the beauty the less precise you’ll measure the size required. Remember your rug will provide a boundary for certain areas designated for certain functions. One trend is dining room boundary, the size of the rug is normally about two feet larger than your table all around.

You’ll find that most contemporary rugs and oriental rugs use the metric measuring system… the reason is because many are made overseas in Asia and Europe. A meter is 3.28 feet. Because of this difference in measurements here is a formula you should use: Space+Function+preference=size

Back to the future, like particles an area rug has couriously split personalities that allow them to exist in more than one place at the same time. First the space part ot your rug personality, is the size of your room where the rug is going to be used, next the funcition is what the rug is supposed to do in the room., and preference is personal tast and sense of design.

One of the major factors in deciding your preference is color, for example:

* A black area rug— Black, being a neutral can team up with any color and can have a striking effect. Think of the bumble bee – yellow and black stripes!

*A blue area rug—- Blue is a very popular color and is what I call a safe color to use with interior decorating…great for bedrooms and bathrooms because of the calming effect blue gives.

*A purple area rug—- These softer more restful versions of purple are desired in our homes, especially in bedrooms and bathrooms as they promote day dreaming and inner calmness.

This section is very important in decorating…

Why?

Everything we see has color, and that is why it is important to know the trend for the color you select to enhance the space you wish to decorate for the space.
